the fourth

There are so many fun things to do on the Fourth that I don't think I could pick one perfect scenario - but I think spending the day boating (and on this crazy tube) could be it. The weather was so beautiful (albeit hot), the lake was calm and was the perfect temperature. It's so random to have one day off in the middle of the week, but at least we were all free to enjoy the day.

In the past, my Fourth of July consisted of early breakfast at my aunt's in Lakewood, walking to the parade, then lunch and fireworks back at their house. The Lakewood parade pretty much has the same cast of characters every year, so it's fun to see the same Krazy Kops (real thing) that I saw when I was a kid. We still go to the parade, but more recently I've been lucky to be able to spend the day boating with Jim and his family, which is a blast.

Do you have any Fourth of July traditions? Or do you mix it up every year?

  1. It may not be Italy....but this looks like a pretty awesome way to spend the day! It was so hot, we hardly left the house this year...but I'm hoping something along these lines is in store next year!
